Avanti Hospitals has recently partnered with Carenection to provide a supportable and reliable infrastructure for critical telehealth services, including telehealth carts for initial assessments, telehealth tablets for post-admission rounding, a video call center which enables participation by multiple remote specialists in a single encounter, and connectivity to over 500 hospitals nationwide via the Carenection Telehealth Delivery Network (CTDN).
The Carenection partnership was a key contributor to the recent designation of Coast Plaza Hospital, a facility of Avanti Hospitals, as a Primary Stroke Center (PSC) by The Joint Commission in collaboration with The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
“This Carenection platform enables us to provide critical services to our patients and improve outcomes while allowing them to remain in their community for care,” says Michael Rembis, Corporate Chief Executive Officer of Avanti Hospitals.
Avanti’s implementation of Carenection is the first unified telehealth platform in the country with integrated language services. Thanks to Avanti’s partnership with Language Access Network, Avanti now has the ability to perform telestroke examinations in over 250 languages, including American Sign Language, over the Carenection platform, which supports multiple specialists on a single call, bringing physicians and certified medical interpreters together at the push of a single button.
“Avanti is a shining example of an urban application of telehealth to address healthcare disparities,” James Edwards, Carenection’s CEO stated. “The partnership with Carenection brings academic quality tele-stroke services over a proven technology platform to an underserved population within Los Angeles.”
Avanti Hospitals is in the process of deploying the Carenection telehealth platform to each hospital in its system.
